This unbelievable story happened on May 27, 1997, involving an immigrant from Uzbekistan, who was hours away from being deported out of the country.
During his last day in the USA, he saw a report on TV about a Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty. That officer was 27 year-old Charles Lazaretto.
Our main character sent a $300 donation for Lazaretto’s family to the police station and left the country for good the next morning.
What happened to him after his good deed is unbelievable. You can read his full story here: www.onceinlosangeles.com.
Our hope is that after reading his story Americans will no longer remain indifferent to immigration issues. It is now our turn to return some generosity to the man who showed that it is possible to care for others, even on what may arguably be the worst day of his life.
