With the dream of pursuing a career as an astrophysicist, Alex will use the scholarship award to study in Kalamazoo College’s physics program.

Even as a child, Alex dreamed of studying space. Watching space documentaries and reading books about the solar system only furthered Alex’s fascination with the cosmos. Now, as a college student, Alex is excited about the opportunity to put this lifelong passion into a future career.

After graduating from Kalamazoo College, Alex hopes to pursue a master’s degree, and eventually a doctorate, in Astrophysics. With these degrees, Alex hopes to conduct research and teach at a university.

As someone who endured bullying in school, Alex hadn’t considered teaching as a career until recently. Now, Alex is excited about creating a welcoming environment to share knowledge with others equally interested in space. Growing up with autism made Alex especially passionate about bringing patience and acceptance to the academic setting.

Alex dreams of improving humankind with a deep understanding of the cosmos. The thought of discovering intelligent life and new wormholes in space and seeing the future of technology and space exploration is exciting to Alex. With the $1,500 academic scholarship, some of the financial burden of pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate is off Alex’s family.
